Cheers Eva! For those unfamiliar with KK-stiftelsen, could you provide a brief overview of the organization's mission and the types of projects you typically engage in?

The Knowledge foundation was founded by the Swedish government in 1994. From day one our mission has been to fund research and skills development performed as collaborations between business sector partners and smaller universities in Sweden. The Knowledge Foundation seeks to support the development of strong research and education environments that create value for academia, the business sector and society. The projects we fund span all sectors in society and include AI, embedded systems, medicine, production engineering and smart cities. The Knowledge foundation also funds the design of new master’s courses for full-time students as well as re-skilling and up-skilling education for professionals.

“BIFROST IS A PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO TAP INTO THE VIBRANT ECO-SYSTEM OF RESEARCH, EDUCATION AND COLLABORATION IN SILICON VALLEY.

-THE SWEDISH RESEARCH AND EDUCATION SYSTEM IS CURRENTLY UNDERGOING LARGE REFORMS, AND THE KNOWLEDGE FOUNDATION IS FORMING A NEW STRATEGY. THEREFORE WE WOULD LIKE TO TAKE PART, DISCUSS, GET INSPIRATION AND SHARE OUR EXPERIENCES FROM ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL INNOVATION ECO-SYSTEM - THE SWEDISH ONE!”

-Eva Schelin, CEO, KK-Stiftelsen

Why is KK-stiftelsen participating in Bifrost Summit 2024, and what do you hope to achieve through this collaboration?

Bifrost is a perfect opportunity to tap into the vibrant eco-system of research, education and collaboration in Silicon Valley. The Swedish research and education system is currently undergoing large reforms, and the Knowledge foundation is forming a new strategy, so we would like to take part, discuss, get inspiration, and share our experiences from another successful innovation eco-system, the Swedish one.

In the landscape of tech and innovation, what emerging trends does KK-stiftelsen foresee playing a significant role in shaping a sustainable future?

Green transition connected to energy supply. AI, embedded systems and deep tech as technologies to help solve these challenges. Circular economy and creation of new business models, paired with policy instruments. And – how do we educate the workforce needed for this?

Bifrost is just around the corner, what are you looking forward to the most at Bifrost?

Networking, to share insights, get new ideas and good examples. It’s also nice to be able to share knowledge with peers.
